Amy is a partner in the Dallas office of Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker LLP, handling complex business litigation:
- commercial litigation, including contract disputes,
- business torts, fraud and misrepresentation, deceptive trade practice claims;
- insurance coverage and bad faith litigation;
construction litigation;
- professional liability litigation;
- ERISA litigation; and
- healthcare litigation.
In addition to her litigation practice, Amy represents liability insurers as insurance coverage and monitoring counsel for claims arising under specialty liability policies. As coverage counsel, Amy advises her clients regarding the existence and scope of coverage, issues of policy interpretation, claims handling matters and claim resolution, primarily with respect to litigation against directors and officers (including securities fraud litigation under state and federal laws, ERISA litigation, shareholder derivative claims and governmental investigations).
Amy is AV-rated in Martindale-Hubbell’s Peer Review Rating system (indicating that a lawyer has reached the height of professional excellence and is “recognized for the highest levels of skill and integrity”). In 2007, Amy was selected as a “Rising Star” in the areas of insurance coverage, business litigation and construction litigation by Super Lawyers, a supplement of Texas Monthly magazine. She has authored papers and articles regarding business and insurance litigation, including “The Duty to Defend,” Updates on Insurance Issues in Texas (April 2008).

Amy earned her undergraduate degree from Liberty University (B.S., Political Science, 1989, magna cum laude) and her law degree from the University of Virginia, School of Law (J.D., 1992). Amy is devoted to her husband, Dean Stewart, and has two precious children, William and Caroline.

Representative Cases
Won summary judgment for insurance company client in coverage and bad faith litigation seeking damages exceeding $30 million by insured under fiduciary and D&O liability policies. See Mary Kay Holding Corp. v. Fed. Holding Co., 2007 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 88583 (N.D. Tex. Aug. 14, 2007).
Represented CIGNA in the district court and before the Fifth Circuit in the landmark case decided by the United States Supreme Court in 2004, CIGNA Healthcare of Texas, Inc. v. Ruby Calad, 542 U.S. 200 (2004).
Represented plaintiff in litigation seeking in excess of $17 million against transit authority and its contractors for breach of contract and related claims.
Represented insurer before Texas Supreme Court in Warrantech v. Steadfast (regarding application of fortuity doctrine to an insurer’s duty to defend); prevailed.
Represented contractor in commercial arbitration involving breach of contract and deceptive trade practice claims; prevailed on all counts.
