"EWL Helps Star Experience the ‘Real World’"

Vanessa White was an EWL Star for her junior and senior year at TWU, graduated, and is teaching as a substitute teacher for the Lewisville Independent School District. She is planning on starting her own business in 2008, and she credits EWL with inspiring her to take this next step in her career, “The mentoring and exposure to this group of professional women has provided me strength, encouragement and the ability for me to ask for help. I say strength because I am not alone in my journey through my business endeavors or life. I have other women supporting me the whole way up! They are teachers for the real world."  

Vanessa says she has learned the importance of networking and having others support her ideas. EWL has opened up possibilities for her in her life through the mentoring and knowledge sharing from experienced professional women. She also recommends other women to join EWL or apply to become a Star. According to Vanessa, there is so much to learn out in the "real world" that you do not get as a student in school or even sometimes from home. If you have a mentor, an experienced business women, she can guide you and teach you though times of uncertainty in the business world. Vanessa is thrilled to be active in EWL.
